Today, I Sent a Hard Route — Injured
I've fallen in love with climbing lately.
Since I only climb when I can steal a moment from a busy schedule, my timing is all over the place, so it's hard to book sessions with a coach, and my technique is far from textbook.
My whole approach is basically brute force.
It really is a slightly dangerous sport.
But if you're just one move away from success, there's no way you won't try.
Today I only had half an hour, and came back to grind away at this level-13 route.
Last time I'd already cracked all the crux moves; I just didn't have the strength or the time to run the whole thing again. So this time I started climbing right after warming up, full of confidence that I'd get it done in one go!
And then… I got hurt right off the bat… blood dripping all over the floor.
But even injured, I still wanted to give it one more try!
Standing in front of the wall, I closed my eyes and took 10 deep breaths, letting my nerves-raised heart rate settle, staying calm so my palms wouldn't keep sweating.
Up I went, stopping to rest at every move along the way to keep my arms fighting fit; at the last rest point, I took big breaths and reset my mindset.
To the last move: every time before, I'd jumped and couldn't reach it. Don't overthink it, focus on controlling my body — shift my weight, deep breath — jump! Got it!!
Gave the bell🔔 a cheeky kick, and I'm happy for the whole day~~
